Erin Brown (born October 16, 1979 in Illinois, USA) is an actress, model, and film director. Her "trademark" appearance is her pronounced "naturalness" or lack of affectation, both in acting style and appearance. Soft porn favourite of mine and she has done quite a lot of ’em…

Cassandra Peterson aka Elvira

horror_post_banner 936full-cassandra-peterson (1)

If you are blogging around you probably seen her in quite a few posts at Vera Roberts, click here for those posts.

Cassandra Peterson, Elvira’s alter ego, was born in Manhattan, Kansas, and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She remembers always being a fan of Ann-Margret. Since Cassandra saw her in Love in Las Vegas (1964), she wanted to be a dancer. Just days after graduating from high school, Cassandra traveled to Las Vegas where, at the age of 17, she became the youngest showgirl in Las Vegas history. When Elvis Presley saw her perform he encouraged her to pursue a singing career. She toured Europe extensively as lead singer for an Italian rock band. She settled in Rome, where she became fluent in Italian. Here Cassandra met Federico Fellini, who cast her in his classic film, Roma (1972). Returning to the US, Cassandra formed her own nightclub review, "Mama’s Boys", which toured the national club circuit. In the late 1970s she joined the satiric improvisational troupe, The 600full-cassandra-peterson (2)Groundlings, which also produced such stars as Paul Reubens (aka "Pee Wee Herman"). There she honed her now renowned comedic skills as both a writer and performer. Film and television appearances such as Cheech & Chong’s Next Movie (1980) and others followed, but Cassandra was just the typical struggling actress and spent years wondering where her next meal was coming from. It was the fall of 1981, with the birth of her character, Elvira, that it all changed. While she has since played herself in many film and television shows, Cassandra Peterson ultimately combines her numerous talents into an intriguing persona which has not only become a Halloween icon, but a "vamp" for all seasons.

Scare creds: Fright Night (1970-TV Series), Jekyll and Hyde… Together Again (1982), Filmgore (1983), Elvira’s Movie Macabre (1983/1984) Host, Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors (1986), Elvira’s Halloween Special (1986-TV), Elvira, Mistress of the Dark (1988), Pledge Night (1990),The Horror Hall of Fame II (1991-TV), Heartstoppers: Horror at the Movies (1992-TV), The Elvira Show (1993-TV Series), Acting on Impulse (1993), Monster Mania (1997-TV), Superstition (1997) short film, Attack of the 50 Foot Monster Mania (1999-TV), Encounter in the Thrid Dimension (1999) short film documentary, Bride of Monster Mania (2000-TV), Elvira’s Haunted Hills (2001), Something to Scream About (2003), Monsterama: A Tribute to Horror Hosts (2004-TV), Zombie Killer (2008), The Scream (2009), The Haunted World of El Superbeasto (2009), All About Evil (2010)

Sheri Moon Zombie

horror_post_banner sheri_moon_hot_girl_whipSheri may owe her entire horror movie career to her husband, but there’s no way you could overlook someone with the name "Mrs. Zombie." Still a smoking-hot blonde who’s into really dark, sick shit other than "marry me immediately"? Sheri’s the kind of girl you take home to mom only if your mom is also into tats and death metal. Nightmare on Elm Street trivia

horror_post_banner

I was so hyped when this came out and still love the black-humoured villain Freddy Krueger played by Robert Englund. OK, after number 4 they went out of control and I haven’t seen any of the rest except the re-make which is worth watching.

Trivia about Nightmare on Elm Street:

Director Wes Craven claims to have named Freddy Krueger after a kid who bullied him in school and to have based his appearance on a disfigured hobo who scared him as a youth.

When Freddy Krueger is chasing Nancy and she runs up the stairs only to find that its all gross "muck", what she steps in is pancake mix.

News continues after advertisement
Just before Glen is pulled into the bed, the television station announces its name: "KRGR".

The movie Nancy watches to stay awake is Evil Dead.

Director Wes Craven’s original concept for Freddy Krueger was considerably more gruesome, with teeth showing through the flesh over the jaw, puss running from the sores, and a part of the skull showing through the head. Make-up artist ‘Miller, David B.’ argued that an actor couldn’t be convincingly made up that way and a puppet would be hard to film and wouldn’t blend well with live actors, so these ideas were eventually abandoned.

In the scene where Nancy is sleeping at Tina’s house and Freddy comes through the wall over the bed, Jason’s hockey mask (from the Friday the 13th films) can be seen. Incidentally, Freddy is being played at this point by special effects man Jim Doyle wearing Freddy’s stunt mask.

Johnny Depp accompanied friend Jackie Earle Haley to the auditions, where he was spotted by director Wes Craven, who asked him if he’d like to read for the part.

With one exception (Freddy walking through jail-cell bars), all of the F/X in Nightmare were done using physical F/X rather than trick photography.

In the end scene, the top to the convertible came down faster and harder than expected. The expression from the actors is real.

When Nancy’s dreams are "examined", when her hair turns white, the nurse is played by Wes Craven’s wife, Mimi.

Over 500 gallons of fake blood was used during the making of the film.

The only times you see or hear the words "Elm Street" are during the opening and closing credits.

When Freddy is chasing Tina, Freddy’s long arms were marrionetted.

Wes Craven claimed to have drawn inspiration for this movie from a series of news stories that involved a group of young Samoans who died from a horrific nightmare. The story goes first these young, healthy people would have a nightmare refuse to sleep for as long as they could, then when they finally fell asleep from sheer exhaustion they awoke with a scream, and died from a heart failure.

This movie was almost never made. About halfway through filming, New Line lost its deal with the distribution company. As a direct result, they couldn’t pay the cast or crew for two whole weeks until they found another distribution company. They didn’t lose one crew member.

Freddy Kruger was designed by Wes Craven to be the typical "silent" serial killer such as Jason Voorhees or Michael Myers. But in the sequels Freddy developed a cheeky persona that enabled him to be the black humored villain.

New Line Cinema was saved from bankruptcy by the success of the film, and was jokingly nicknamed "the house that Freddy built".

Wes Craven wrote the script and presented it in 1981, but no one wanted it. He said that "It just flew around" until New Line Cinema picked it up.

This was the first real movie by New Line Cinema. Before that, they were just a distribution company for college campuses.

Ali Larter

horror_post_banner ali_larter_allu_swim_smallOK, Ali Larter is not exactly a scream queen in it’s proper way, she hasn’t been in as many horror flicks as the rest but three horror movies is good enough for me and if you missed those, you have probably noticed her in Heroes. Sexy and sassy as hell. Scare cred:  House on Haunted Hill, Final Destination, Final Destination 2

Soledad Miranda

horror_post_banner Soledad Miranda was an actress who was born in Seville, Spain. She frequently starred in the films of Jess Franco, such as Count Dracula and Vampyros Lesbos. It’s such a shame that she passed away so young and she is more famous now than when she actually was alive, that always sucks.

Italian seaside town planning miniskirt ban

This is just so wrong, if I was an italian I would go there to protest against the inhumanity of this decision.

41oiqj8J8wL._AA280_A seaside city in Italy is planning to ban miniskirts and other revealing clothing to improve what the mayor calls standards of public decency.

Castellammare di Stabia is trying to be the latest location in Italy to make use of new powers to crack down on what is deemed to be anti-social behaviour.

Mayor Luigi Bobbio said the regulations would help "restore urban decorum and facilitate better civil co-existence".

Offenders would face fines of between 25 ($35) and 500 euros ($696).

"Nothing too revealing" is the new policy Mayor Bobbio wants to enforce, says the BBC’s Duncan Kennedy in Rome.

e7-85x11 copyThat means a tough new dress code which would effectively outlaw everything from miniskirts to low-cut jeans when people walk around Castellammare di Stabia, our correspondent adds.

Mr Bobbio, from the centre-right People of Freedom party, says he wants to target people who are "rowdy, unruly or simply badly behaved".

There will also be a ban on sunbathing, playing football in public places, and blasphemy, if the proposals are approved at a council meeting on Monday.

"I think it’s the right decision," a local parish priest, Don Paulo Cecere, told the Cronache di Napoli newspaper. "It’s also a way of combating the rise in sexual harassment."

Castellammare di Stabia is latest city to make use of the extra powers handed down by Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s government to mayors, in the effort to fight crime and confront anti social behaviour.

In other places they have banned sandcastles, kissing in cars, feeding stray cats, wooden clogs and the use of lawn mowers at weekends.
