¤ April 18 – David Tennant, Scottish actor is born and had to have him on this list due to being the coolest Dr Who in my eyes.
¤ September 9 – September 13 – Attica Prison riots: – A revolt breaks out at the maximum-security prison in Attica, New York. In the end, state police and the United States National Guard storm the facility; 42 are killed, 10 of them hostages.
¤ November 15 – Intel releases the world’s first microprocessor, the Intel 4004.
¤ November 24 – During a severe storm over Washington State, a man calling himself D. B. Cooper parachutes from the Northwest Orient Airlines plane he hijacked, with US$200,000 in ransom money, and is never seen again (as of March 2008, this case remains the only unsolved skyjacking in history).
¤ Ray Tomlinson sends the first ARPAnete-mail between host computers.


¤ October 29 – Winona Ryder, American actress. Oh my all time favourite crush back in the days.

  1. I tried to think of some other “civilized & developed” country that hosts Attica like events on a fairly regular time table and I came up empty. If you are an African American male in the US you stand a one in three chance of doing prison time. Attica; truly shameful and hardly a recommendation for our justice system. Here in Calif. we have people in solitary for as long as 30 plus years. Not always for what one might think. Just think; THIRTY YEARS ALL BY YOURSELF. Just looking forward to your daily bowl of gruel. This is not exaggeration. Don’t mean to be a downer, but the above really is one of our dark realities and it seems to transcend all sense of humanity.

    On the bright side. Winona Ryder was, and I hope still is, truly hot. I’ll bet she still looks just great. She could be the distraction that I am obviously in need of.
