A lot of serial killing going on this year.

¤ January 28 – Richard Chase, the “Vampire of Sacramento”, is arrested. He was an Americanschizophrenicserial killer who killed six people in a span of a month in Sacramento, California. He was nicknamed “The Vampire of Sacramento” because he drank his victims’ blood and cannibalized their remains.
¤ February 1 – Hollywood film director Roman Polanski skips bail and flees to France, after pleading guilty to charges of engaging in sex with a 13-year-old girl.
¤ February 15 – Serial killer Ted Bundy is captured in Pensacola, Florida.
¤ February 16 – The Hillside Strangler, a serial killer prowling Los Angeles, claims a tenth and final victim.
¤ March 6 – American porn publisher Larry Flynt is shot and paralyzed in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
¤ June 12 – Serial killer David Berkowitz, the “Son of Sam,” is sentenced to 365 years in prison.
¤ June 19 – Garfield, which eventually becomes the world’s most widely syndicated comic strip, makes its debut.
¤ December 22 – Chicago serial killer John Wayne Gacy, who was subsequently convicted of the murder of 33 young men, is arrested.

  1. My wife met the Hillside Strangler. She and her friend gave him the slip and probably saved their lives. Truth IS stranger than fiction. Luck is often the deciding factor in how all of our lives play out. It scares me today.
