George I will miss u – u made me score 😆

I gotta be honest I was not going to do a tribute to George Michael but the more I read around the Web the more I realised I was in error. He was part of my childhood with Wham and part of my disco dancing when I was in puberty. Yes, he helped me score with his Freedom song when i was young. Thanks George.

But one thing about him was that he never apologised for the things he did, yes he did it in the toilet and got caught but he was never apologetic about it and yes he went cruising but he never said sorry. He stood up for it. Cudos for that.

So I gotta admit that I’m slightly in awe of that. But damn you George and Wham for Last Christmas. I love the song but after 20 repeats on the music channel, I’m ready to kill myself 😆

But this is a great song with Elton John.

Thanks George for the music.

Vem vet – Who knows

Great lyrics and a great swedish songwriter/singer Lisa Ekdahl.

in case this one doesn’t work in the states, this vimeo should do the trick but no captions I’m afraid so have added the translation here.

Lisa Ekdahl – Vem Vet (Who knows)
Du är en saga för god för att vara sann (You’re a fairytale too good to be true)
det är en saga i sig att vi funnit varann (It’s a fairytale in itself that we found each other)
vi kunde lika gärna aldrig nånsin mötts (We could just as well never ever have met)
eller var vårt möte redan bestämt långt innan vi fötts? (Or had our meeting already been decided long before we were born?)
vem vet, inte du (Who knows, not you)
vem vet. inte jag (Who knows, not me)
vi vet ingenting nu (We know nothing now)
vi vet inget idag (We know nothing today)
vem vet, inte du (Who knows, not you)
vem vet. inte jag (Who knows, not me)
vi vet ingenting nu (We know nothing now)
vi vet inget idag (We know nothing today)

The REM breakup

I do love REM and while I do think it’s sad they are gonna break-up they are well deserved to just lay back and chill considering all the great songs they have managed so far.

My all-time favourites:

Peter Green’s Man of the world

Was watching BBC4 about the blues and how the brits took over it for a while there, was stunned that the blues was in decline in the states in the ’60s but came back strong because of some pale brits ‘The Yardbirds’, ‘Rolling Stones’, ‘John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers’ etc. who went over there and made blues popular again. Life is weird sometimes.

Anyway, love the blues and always will. But one song they had featured on the show was Peter Greens ‘Man of the world’. I was amazed that I had missed this song but happy to have found it, such a sad song but oh so brilliant.

Shall I tell you about my life
They say I’m a man of the world
I’ve flown across every tide
And I’ve seen lots of pretty girls

I guess I’ve got everything I need
I would’t ask for more
And there’s no one I’d rather be
But I just wish that I’d never been born

And I need a good woman
to make me feel like a good man should
I don’t say I’m a good man
Oh, but I would be if I could

I could tell you about my life
And keep you amused I’m sure
About all the times I’ve cried
And how I don’t want to be sad anymore
And how I wish I was in love

Katy Perry and Elmo

Elmo sure gets all the good gigs, being chased by Katy Perry aint that bad…

Miss Sarajevo video with U2 and Pavarotti

I do love this song to bits, love U2 and Pavarotti…

Is there a time to run for cover
A time for kiss and tell
Is there a time for different colours
Different names you find it hard to spell

Is there a time for first communion
A time for East Seventeen
Is there a time to turn to Mecca
Is there time to be a beauty queen

Here she comes
Beauty plays the clown
Here she comes
Surreal in her crown
