So finished 3 books since last time. The first book on my review is why only 3 books since last because its bloody huge. 🙂
Steven Erikson “Gardens of the moon” – A great fantasy book which I definitely got stuck with so am happy that it’s a series so I can continue reading this wonderful fantasy setting. A definitely 5 star one. ★★★★★ (5 stars out of 5)
The Malazan world was devised by Steven Erikson and Ian Cameron Esslemont, initially as a setting for a role-playing game. Gardens of the Moon began as a movie script but evolved into a novel, which Erikson completed in 1991–92 but failed to sell. Say what! And damn u Bob, he is a Winnipeg author so another great reason except the hockey and food to visit. 🙂
Isaac Asimov “Foundation” – I remember reading this when I was a kid in love with scifi and its definitely not your normal science fiction book. Not much action but it gets you hooked. I am happy to say I still love this book. ★★★★★ (5 stars out of 5)
Terry Pratchett “Reaper man” – a super addition to the Discworld books. Death is getting replaced and he has finally time to use up before hos demise but that means no one is taking care of business so its up to the wizards and the undead Windle Poons (ex wizard) to sort things out. Great reading. ★★★★★ (5 stars out of 5)
So have actually just read great books this time. Hope you read them and agree with me.
When Bob from Exploring Winnipeg and beyond posted his search for his birth mother and the story behind it I gladly share this story so that it can reach more people who maybe know someone who knows someone who and so on.
plus also he bribed me “I’ll stuff you full of beer, women, and hotdogs if you come visit.”. I mean, free Winnipeg hot dogs, I just can’t say no… Oh yeah, women as well, almost forgot but to be honest, it’s the hot dogs that I’m after here…
Are you my mother?
To make a long story short I have tried everything but going through the Ottawa phone book and cold calling people who share my last name. Then I got to thinking I have a website that is seen by hundreds of people every day. Maybe one of them knows who I am? Maybe one of them has access to resources I do not have. Maybe one of them knows Oprah or Ellen? Long-shot I know but hey nothing ventured nothing gained.
Are YOU my mother?
My basic birth information is as follows, for obvious reasons I cannot disclose everything but someone out there has the other half of this puzzle maybe we can complete the picture together.
The story goes that in the late 1968 or very early 1969 my mother was a young twenty year old stenographer and typist working in the Ottawa/Hull region of Ontario possibly for the Police or Government Service. She may have had a tryst with someone working in the service and produced me in the process.
In celebration of Bob at Bob’s place – Exploring Winnipeg and beyond, a superb blogger who just seems to enjoy his Canada to bits and also his food, I actually have been so so so close to actually buy a ticket to Winnipeg just to try out that new restaurant there due to Bob’s posts.
Anyway back to the birthday boy, as a little happy birthday gift to him I will have an all out day of Canadian beauties here today, was actually easier to find gorgeous girls from Canada than I was expecting, hell, they were to many…
Also thought I do a reblog of one of his posts, my thought was to do the randomize but imagine if just that one would be boring as hell? Well, you never know, even the best of bloggers has a bad patch of posts they just want to forget about, anyway.. I was in luck, on my first random post on his blog I did find a great post so here goes:

Much fun has been poked at my adopted home town over the years. In cinema and in song, Winnipeg has been treated like a fictional clearing house. In the same vein as Walla Walla, Washington or Kookamunga.
Well being Canadian means being able to take a joke. So in honour of my home town here are some of the best videos I could find on the subject of Winnipeg!!
Since I felt lucky I pushed the dreaded randomizer again:
Just when you think things couldn’t get any stranger around here, the hits keep coming. I was doing some surfing today and came across a pretty cool website.
Urlai.com is a text analysis website, basically you give the website your blog address and it runs a text analysis algorithm through it to decide a few things. The probable sex, age and mood of the web site’s author are analyzed and printed out in a pie chart configuration.
So according to the computers at Urlai, after running Bob’s Place through. There is a very high probability that I am a post menopausal woman who has a generally positive outlook on life who writes with a personal style opposed to an academic tone.
